I forgot to take pictures of other dishes, but we went there on a Sunday night and ordered Vietnamese spring rolls (new dishes), prawn pad Thai and drunken chicken noodles. Because it was Sunday night and there were a lot of people in the restaurant as well as people who ordered take out, we waited for a while before getting our dishes. Everything tasted good, and the price was actually decent. The spring rolls looked different than normal Vietnamese rolls but the fish sauce with it was good. The drunken chicken noodles got a LOT of onions in it, which we didnt prefer. The decor was pretty simple and almost looked a little bit boring. But overall, we were satisfied with our dishes and would come back here again.
I have been to Zabb many times and am usually happy with the food and service, but when I made a reservation there a couple weeks ago I was incredibly disappointed with the experience. We arrived with an extra person (6 instead of 5, my mistake) which didnt seem to be an issue as there were enough seats at our table as is, but the waitress who sat us made us feel unwelcome and burdensome. All seemed fine until after we ordered and dishes began being served. One arrived and was extremely cold, as if it had been in the fridge. When we alerted the server, she didnt say a word, took it away with an eye roll, proceeded to microwave it, and then return it without saying anything again. It then took about 5 minutes for the next dish to be served and so on, so by the time the last person has got their food the first person was almost done which seemed quite disorganized. Our server did not return to see how anyone elses dishes were after they were delivered and didnt bother to refill any drinks. In the time that we were sitting there we saw her tell two parties that were wanting seats that they did not have enough space for them, which is completely understandble, but she did so in a very rude, abrasive way which we could see was noted by those customers as well. Im not sure if she was having an off night, but our server really put a damper on our evening and made my partner and I feel silly for bringing friends here after raving to them how amazing the food and service is and then having a disappointing experience.
I gave this place 5 stars about a month ago, but unfortunately have to give it two stars due to service. (1 star because the food tasted good)Called at 4:40 to place a take out order - phone was ringing for about 3 minutes until some one picked up. She said it would take 30 minuets. My husband went to pick it up at 35 minutes after (4:20) and payed. No one told him the food would take longer and he waited about 15 -20 minutes until the food was done. Lady was not polite nor did they apologize for the wait. It's also not the first time I've ordered the soup, and there was quite a lot less then there has been previous times. A little disappointed.
Wow, really underwhelmed with this place. Honestly the worst Thai food my wife and I have had (weve had LOTS!). Seriously under-spiced and lacking the balance of flavour Thai food is famous for. My Panang curry was overpowered by lemongrass and I specifically asked for extra spicy, it was basically spice-less like they ran out of chilli peppers. Very disappointing. My wifes stir fried minced pork was unfortunately along the same lines, seemingly all the right ingredients but no flavour. Bland is the best adjective.Must be noted we didnt eat in, the space felt a little bit bare and cramped. Certainly not chic. Price was reasonable and staff were approachable and friendly.
We all have our personal taste, or favorite in Thai food. I believe this restraunt could create that favorite. All of what I tasted was yummy and fresh. I was with a large group that had multiple special needs and instructions and they handled it with grace and care. We were camped at our table for almost 3 hours. And they never made us feel rushed. Try it, ask them for what you want and you won't be disappointed.
