Beautiful park with great trails. Amazing beaches in a couple locations for picking the right beach for some family fun in the sun. Many spots for picnicing and relaxing. There are a few swimming areas along the path. There is a beautiful wetland and boardwalk.
It's a pretty typical city park. It can be a nice walk along the lake. The boardwalk area and the bird sanctuary are beautiful areas. The older area of downtown city park feels old. It's slowly improving over the years though. There's a waterpark for kids, new public washrooms, merchants, a sandy beach, soccer field, and tennis courts. The summer concerts are great although I'm not a fan when parts of it are blocked off to the public. Final note: it can be beautiful depending on the time of year and the area. It also depends what you like. I do like it enough that I proposed to my now wife there and got great pictures. So to me it's worth a visit.
The summer concert series in the park is fantastic! The venue is something that is well worth spending a bit of time at. With the variety of water features and paths to stroll on, this was a highlight spot for us to spend time at!
Beautiful, lots to do and always busy.. Generally has many events there. The biggest probably being Canada day. There's a center stage and usually great music. Has food stations, showers, bathrooms and change rooms. Generally well kept and maintained, the place to be morning afternoon or evening for some family fun in the sun.
Beautiful beach area with nice paved trails/ walkways. I came here mainly to check out the "bird sanctuary" area, which is basically all the beach area and a little wetland area just directly north of the beach. More specifically, if you look at google maps, it's the yellow colored beach area along the water. Great place for a pretty little walk. The wetland area is home to many species of birds, along with lots of the painted turtles that like to sunbathe on the floating logs, and a huge osprey nest as well that is very easily seen. Beautiful place for sure!
